Oracle CEO Larry Ellison plans to cut Sun jobs initially and then hire 2,000 new workers.

InfoWorld: Oracle plans to release its full plans for the Sun merger later today, but it did offer a glimpse of what's to come on Tuesday. Specifically, CEO Larry Ellison said that while some Sun jobs will be cut initially, the company plans to hire 2,000 new workers at a later date.

"We are not cutting Sun to profitability," said Ellison. "We think that this business will be profitable immediately."
