CIO.com: What technologies will be on the top of CIOs' agendas for 2010? According to a recent Gartner survey, virtualization, cloud computing, Web 2.0, networking and mobility have all become top priorities.
The survey also revealed that CIO's expect only modest budget increases this year--around 2.5 percent. That may explain why executives are interested in technologies that don't require a lot of upfront investment.
Gartner's Mark McDonald tells CIO.com, "The degree to which cloud computing and Web 2.0 rocketed to the top of CIO priorities is significant. We have been surveying for them since 2007, and they were always on the list, but way down. These technologies don't require a huge upfront investment, but in some cases, promise significant benefits."
