Tech News World: Security expert Ed Moyle compares the effect of low morale on IT security to the effect a bad cold has on employee productivity. He writes:
"As managers, we spend quite a bit of time and energy evaluating how employee state of mind -- things like morale and job satisfaction -- because these factors directly impact employee retention, safety and quality. However, how often do we stop and assess how those same factors impact security? Because they do have a security impact, and a security organization that can understand (even in broad terms) the mood of employees has an advantage."
He recommends managers keep an eye on formal metrics and listen at the water cooler for signs that low employee morale may impact security.
