PCWorld: Analysts at Forrester Research have predicted that U.S. IT spending will increase 6.6 percent this year. That's welcome news after spending dropped by 8.2 percent in 2009. Software is expected to do particularly well in terms of sales this year, but other areas, including communications equipment don't look as bright.
Hedging its bets, the research company said that it is also possible that the economy could experience a double-dip recession instead of growth this year. If that happens, tech spending would see a 3 to 4 percent decrease instead.
