Is a Cloud Service Broker Right for Your Business?

Gartner predicts that as use of cloud services increases, cloud service brokers (CSBs) will emerge to help companies manage and integrate those services. In a recent report, Gartner predicts that cloud vendors will bring in $56.3 billion in 2009, 21.3 percent more than last year. By 2013, that number could hit $150.1 billion. In order to manage all that growth, they're predicting the emergence of cloud service brokers (CSBs).

"The future of cloud computing will be permeated with the notion of brokers negotiating relationships between providers of cloud services and the service customers," said Gartner research director L. Frank Kenney. "In this context, a broker might be software, appliances, platforms or suites of technologies that enhance the base services available through the cloud. Enhancement will include managing access to these services, providing greater security, or even creating completely new services."
