New Programs Aim to Lure Young Into Digital Jobs

The country needs more cool nerds — people who can use computing in ways that haven’t even been thought of yet. High schools are starting to do their part.

NY Times: Educators, technologists, and companies like Intel, Google, and Microsoft aim to change the perception of computer science among young people. They say the jobs of the future will combine computing with other fields in new ways. That's why they're promoting new classes that expose students to the "magic of computing," that is, writing actual applications, instead of just teaching students to use word processors and spreadsheets.
