SAP Postpones Decision On Higher Maintenance Fees

Tuesday Dec 1st 2009 by Staff

German business software maker SAP AG (SAP) Tuesday said it had postponed a decision to charge customers higher maintenance fees for its enterprise support until next year.

SAP had previously said that in future it would only offer customers its Enterprise Support package, first launched in 2008, in a move that would mean higher support costs for its customers in most countries outside Germany and Austria. Under the plan, SAP wanted to increase the maintenance fee in stages to 22% from 17% of the software license fee. SAP said the postponement reflects customers' concerns amid pressure on IT budgets due to the economic downturn.
